A Strategic Approach to Property Management

I founded J Street Properties Group because I saw a gap in the real estate industry, especially for investors, landlords, and owners who want more than basic property management. Coming from a background in real estate investing myself, brokerage, and operational systems, I realized that most property management companies operate reactively, not strategically.

As a Tax Accountant and Advisor for the last 17+ years, I have worked with many real estate investors ranging from small landlords to large institutional investment funds, REIT’s, private equity syndications and several other investment partnerships. From this perspective, I also realized that many property management companies do not see their client’s properties through the same lenses and therefore do not provide the same kind of proactive and strategic forward-thinking service to their clients.

I wanted to build a firm that treats every property like a business, every client like a partner, and every decision like an investment opportunity. After years of advising clients on acquisitions, dispositions, tax strategy and planning as well as long-term investment planning, starting a property management company was the natural next step.

As an investor myself, I have learned this lesson myself personally many times with some great experiences and some not so great.

Jeff Engstrom founded J Street Properties Group to bridge the gap between traditional property management and strategic real estate investing. With over 18 years as a Tax Accountant and Advisor, Jeff has worked with clients ranging from individual landlords to institutional funds, private equity groups and public REIT's. Drawing from his background in real estate investing, brokerage, and operations, Jeff built J Street Properties Group to treat every property like a business and every client like a partner, focusing on proactive, investment-driven management that builds long-term value.
